Who's hot and who's not

Here is a strange stat: The Orioles have been outhit in their last three games, but won each game. Those are the O's only three wins of the season when their opponent has more hits. Despite that, their offense continues to be productive and the Orioles rank second in the American League with 168 runs, behind only the Athletics with 177. Who's hot at bat right now: * Let's start with the kid. Manny Machado is batting .382 (26-for-68) and has hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games with seven doubles, a triple, three homers and 11 RBIs. Machado has 15 RBIs over his past 18 games. * J.J. Hardy is 7-for-18 during a five-game batting streak with three homers and five RBIs. * Adam Jones is 9-for-27 during a seven-game batting streak with three doubles and three RBIs. Jones has an RBI in 16 of the Orioles' 34 games and is batting .412 with runners in scoring position and is batting .438 with runners in scoring position and two outs. * Nate McLouth is batting .345 (20-for-58) during his last 16 games with four doubles, three homers, nine RBIs and seven stolen bases. * Matt Wieters is batting .294 (10-for-34) over his last 10 games with four doubles, a homer and eight RBIs. Wieters has knocked in 15 runs in his last 20 games. Who's not hot at bat right now: * Ryan Flaherty is batting just .114 on the season after going 0-for-3 last night. He is 3-for-31 over his last nine games and has two RBIs over his past 12 games. * Nolan Reimold has just three hits over his last 22 at-bats and has just three RBIs over his last 15 games. * Can we put Chris Davis in this category? Certainly not for the whole season, during which he has been one of the club's best hitters. But Davis is hitless in this series and is 2-for-18 over his last six games. While Davis is tied for third in the AL with nine homers on the year, he has not hit one over the past eight games, his longest homerless stretch of the season. He still has 16 homers over his past 40 regular-season games. Finally, the Orioles are hot right now, you probably have noticed, with a season-high four-game win streak, which now has them tied for first place, and at a season-best eight games over .500 (21-13). The Orioles have won five of their last six, nine of the last 13 and 14 of the last 20 games. They are 9-5 at home and going for their first three-game sweep of the season tonight.
