SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles haven't posted their lineup, but left-hander Brian Matusz will accompany them to Port Charlotte for today's game against the Rays.
Matusz hasn't pitched since March 2 due to a strained muscle in his lower back.
Other relievers behind starter Yovani Gallardo include T.J. McFarland, Brad Brach, Chaz Roe, Pedro Beato and Todd Redmond.
Pedro Alvarez and Hyun Soo Kim also are on the trip.
Matt Wieters is taking live batting practice this morning after hitting off a tee and machine yesterday. His right elbow feels a little better each day.
Wieters hasn't been cleared to throw and he isn't looking to rush the process.
"Dr. (James) Andrews said he wants me to be cautious about throwing and make sure everything's getting back to tip-top shape and go through a program, but as far as hitting, he said I could go back to doing that however I feel comfortable," Wieters said.
"It's getting better every day. Getting close. But as long as we're still making improvement, that means there's still improvement to make. We're trying to get it as strong as possible, but hopefully I can throw soon. We want to be able to take it slow to where we don't have a setback."
