Yankees score four in ninth to stun Orioles 5-3

One out away from an uplifting victory, the Orioles suffered a walk-off loss tonight in The Bronx.

Carlos Beltran hit a three-run homer with two on and two out against Zach Britton in the last of the ninth as the Orioles lost 5-3 at New York. Beltran hit a high 3-1 fastball out on Britton's 27th pitch of the inning.

The lefty took the mound with a 3-1 lead but gave up a leadoff single. He then got the next two outs and looked to be on his way to his 10th save. But a walk and RBI single by Brian McCann followed to make it a 3-2 game. Then Beltran gave New York the walk-off win.

For the third time this year, the Orioles were held without a hit for the first five innings. They overcome that to move into a 3-1 lead.

Earlier, Ubaldo Jimenez walked a season-high six batters but somehow managed to allow just one run as the Yankees left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth innings. Jimenez went 5 2/3, allowing six hits.

Nick Hundley ended Kuroda's no-hit bid with a double to lead off the O's sixth and he scored on a Steve Pearce double to tie the game at 1-1. An Adam Jones RBI single gave the Orioles a 2-1 lead. Pearce added an RBI single in the ninth.

Over his last three games, Pearce is 6-for-12 with four doubles, a homer and five RBIs.

A win would have been the Orioles' third straight and pulled them into a second-place tie with the Yankees at 38-34. Instead, they fall to 37-35 with a devastating loss.

On Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m., Bud Norris (6-5, 3.73 ERA) faces lefty Vidal Nuno (1-3, 5.90 ERA).
