Some quick takes on players that came up big in a four-hour win

It you made it through every pitch, every key play, every blown lead and all four hours and eight minutes, you can raise your hand and if I had a pair of free tickets here, they would be heading your way. A couple of quick thoughts after a dramatic win: Adam Jones had two huge hits. His two-run double in the sixth put the O's ahead 3-2 and his RBI single in the eighth put the O's up 5-4. He doubled in the tenth of a 5-5 tie. Jones is now 10-for-23 on the season batting with runners in scoring position for an average of .435. Matt Wieters, whose single ended the marathon contest in the last of the 13th, went 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position and is now 12-for-20 on the year in those situations for an average of .600. Felix Pie and Jake Fox came up big in the late innings. Pie went 2-for-3 with an RBI single that tied the game at 6-6 in the 13th. Fox had a key hit, a single, during the game-winning rally. J.J. Hardy made an impressive return, going 4-for-5 with a homer. Jake Arrieta pitched well again, giving up just two runs over six frames. The Orioles got a much-needed and hard-fought win to end a four-game losing streak, and their slumping offense picked up 20 hits and went 8-for-21 with runners in scoring position. It was their first win in an extra-inning game (they are now 1-3 when they play more than nine innings) and their first win of the year when trailing after seven innings. They are now 1-17 in those situations. The O's blew leads, including one with just one out to go in the ninth, but not the game. Bring on King Felix in game two of this series. More notes on the win: *J.J. Hardy had three hits in his first six Orioles' games. He returned from the DL with a 4-for-5 game, raising his average from .200 to .350 in one night. On the season, four of his seven hits have gone for extra bases. *The O's 20 hits crushed their previous season high of 13 hits. The 20-hit game raised the team batting average from .233 to .240. *The Orioles scored seven runs on 16 hits in three games over the weekend against Tampa and had seven runs on 20 hits in this win. They went 3-for-21 with runners in scoring position in the Tampa series and 8-for-21 with RISP on Tuesday night. *The Orioles eight hits in the game with runners in scoring position was one more than their total of seven hits with RISP over the last seven games combined. Bowie bound: Later this morning I will head to Bowie to cover Alfredo Simon's second start on the mound for the Baysox. He gave up four runs and six hits over five innings for Bowie last Thursday. Today's game starts at 11 a.m. Check here and on Twitter for updates today on Simon's outing. Last night, the Baysox, like the Orioles, also had a walk-off win. Bowie had no one on and two outs in the last of the ninth and went on to score twice to beat Richmond 5-4. Pedro Florimon's RBI double tied the game and Kyle Hudson's single won it as Bowie improved to 16-16. Cole McCurry pitched 3 2/3 scoreless in relief to get that win. He has been fantastic for Bowie and is now 3-0 with an ERA of 0.44 over eight games out of the bullpen. In 20 2/3 innings he has allowed just nine hits and one run with six walks and 25 strikeouts. Caleb Joseph has four hits the last two games and his average is up to .288 for the Baysox. Also last night, Lynchburg beat Frederick 8-3 to snap a six-game Keys win streak.
