All Stars Among Us

The Washington Nationals certainly spend a lot of time enriching the community around the ballpark. Everyday All Stars come from all walks of life and improve our communities in a variety of ways. But they share one very special quality -- the desire to give back. Major League Baseball has again teamed up with People Magazine to honor ordinary people who make a big difference in their communities this season. Fans can submit everyday "All Stars" by visiting PeopleAllStars.com before May 14th. The All Stars Among Us campaign recognizes extraordinary achievements in the local community and honors the spirit of volunteerism around the country.
Debbi Taylor asks Josh Willingham about People's All Stars Among Us
"Honoring the 'All-Stars Among Us' last year in St. Louis was truly a defining moment in a very memorable year for baseball, one in which we dedicated ourselves to recognizing baseball's role as a social institution and the importance of "Going Beyond" by giving back to the community," said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig said in a release. Three individuals from each team will be chosen as finalists and the public will vote on a winner leading up to the All Star Game. Each of those 30 winners will enjoy All-Star Week festivities and be recognized in a pre-game ceremony before the All Star Game on July 13th. One winner will be featured in People magazine. You may recall last year's emotional ceremony and video tribute by all five living U.S. Presidents. Do you know a Nats fan who goes above and beyond to improve the lives of his or her neighbors?
