Nationals recall Trevor Gott, select Tim Collins' contract

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Trevor Gott from Triple-A Syracuse and selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Tim Collins on Tuesday. Additionally, they placed right-handed pitcher Ryan Madson on the 10-day disabled list with lumbar nerve root irritation, optioned left-handed pitcher Sammy Solís to Triple-A Syracuse and transferred right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde to the 60-day disabled list. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.

Gott, 25, returns to the Nationals for his fifth Major League assignment of the season. In his last eight games with Triple-A Syracuse, Gott has pitched to a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP) while striking out 10 batters and issuing just two walks. Madson, 37, is 2-5 with a 5.19 ERA in 48 games for Washington in 2018. This will be his second stint on the disabled list this season.

Solís, 30, is 1-2 with a 5.24 ERA in 50 games for the Nationals.

Fedde, 25, was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation on July 5. He was 1-3 with a 5.79 ERA in six Major League starts this season.
