Nationals reverse rainout ticket policy (updated)

After getting some pushback from fans, the Nationals have announced that they've reverted to their previous rainout ticket policy and will allow all fans who purchased tickets to Tuesday night's postponed game against the Tigers the option to exchange their tickets for any remaining regular or value home game this season, subject to availability. Following Tuesday night's rainout, the Nationals had initially sent a release stating that those with tickets for Tuesday night's game would be able to use those tickets for Thursday's rescheduled 4:05 p.m. game. Fans unable to make Thursday's rescheduled game would not, however, be able to get a refund or exchange their tickets for a future game. That contrasted with the team's previous policy, in which fans could exchange tickets for a rained out game for those of equal or lesser value for a future regular season game. After getting some backlash over the last 24 hours, the Nationals have altered their policy. "The Washington Nationals wish to announce that all fans who purchased tickets for Tuesday night's postponed game with the Detroit Tigers will be guaranteed their same seats for Thursday's scheduled 4:05 p.m. makeup game, or will retain the option to exchange their tickets - as they have in the past - for any remaining regular or value home game during the 2013 season, subject to availability," the team said in a statement. "Due to increased attendance at Nationals Park, 'rain check' ticket holders are encouraged to contact the Nationals ticket office by phone or online to better ensure seating for those games. The Nationals apologize for any inconvenience." On gamedays, the Nationals Park Box Office is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the game, and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 30 minutes after the end of the game. Box office hours on non-gamedays are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Update: A team spokesman says that this reversed policy will apply to the entire 2013 regular season, not just Tuesday's rainout. Fans will be able to exchange tickets for rained out games to future games throughout the course of this entire regular season.
