Nationals select contracts of three players, finalize opening day 25-man roster

The Washington Nationals today selected the contracts of outfielder Brett Carroll, outfielder/first baseman Xavier Nady and first baseman Chad Tracy. The clubs also optioned left-handed pitcher John Lannan to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League, released right-handed pitcher Chad Durbin and placed right-handed pitcher Drew Storen (15-Day, retroactive to March 26), right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang (15-Day, retroactive to March 26), outfielder Rick Ankiel (15-Day, retroactive to March 28), outfielder Michael Morse (15-Day, retroactive to March 26), right-handed pitcher Cole Kimball (60-Day) and first baseman Chris Marrero (60-Day) on the Disabled List. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements. With these moves, the Nationals' Opening Day 25-Man Roster will consist of: Pitchers (12) - Sean Burnett, Ross Detwiler, Gio Gonzalez, Tom Gorzelanny, Tyler Clippard, Edwin Jackson, Brad Lidge, Ryan Mattheus, Henry Rodriguez, Craig Stammen, Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann Catchers (2) - Jesus Flores, Wilson Ramos Infielders (6) - Mark DeRosa, Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa, Adam LaRoche, Steve Lombardozzi, Chad Tracy, Ryan Zimmerman Outfielders (4) - Roger Bernadina, Brett Carroll, Xavier Nady, Jayson Werth
