Strasburg Graces Sports Illustrated Cover

SI Strasburg.jpgNats fans, don't forget to pick up your copy of Sports Illustrated this week. Stephen Strasburg, "National Treasure," will be on the cover. With 22 strikeouts, 2 wins and a storybook debut, Strasburg also earned the National League's player of the week award. The cover story is a feature piece on Strasburg by Albert Chen. It caps a big week for the rookie pitcher, who also announced the "Top 10" on the David Letterman Show last Thursday. The only over Nationals related Sports Illustrated cover I can remember is Ryan Zimmerman in March '08. He was featured in a piece about the draft class of 2005. Now, let's all cross our fingers that nothing happens to fulfill the cover jinx. After the mound problems in Cleveland, I think Strasburg already paid his dues in terms of bad luck. ---- I could have sworn Zimmerman also had a "National Treasure" cover right after Opening Day 2008, but I can't seem to track it down. Maybe it was a yearbook or a program. Anybody remember? Question: Are you worried about the SI cover jinx?
