With holiday spirit, Nationals front office staff and players will give back to the community this weekend at two special events geared toward those in need.
On Thursday and Friday, Nationals employees will help with the refurbishment of Unity Health Care's Southwest Health Center as part of the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation's continued partnership with Rebuilding Together DC.
Together, as a team, they will make small repairs, install cabinets and shelving, paint walls and create a children's reading corner. The Health Center, located just a few blocks from Nationals Park, provides primary medical care, health education and social services to patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
Screech will stop in on Friday for a lunch with volunteers sponsored by Five Guys Burgers and Hard Times Cafe.
On Saturday morning, John Lannan and Justin Maxwell are slated to attend the fourth annual holiday party for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Lannan and Maxwell will distribute age appropriate gifts and Build-A-Bear "Screech" toys to approximately 150 children. ESPN Zone will donate food, beverages and game cards to the kids.
