Camden Yards was rocking for the Boston-O's series opener

What a great atmosphere at Camden Yards last night. There were plenty of fans cheering for each side, each roaring most of the night at each other, and they made 21,000 fans sound like and feel like 51,000. As a friend said (and that was with Orioles fans basically wanting to ruin another team's season), what could it be like if it were the Orioles pushing for a playoff berth? The place was rocking after Robert Andino's three-run inside-the-park homer and it had a real big-game feel as the Orioles beat Boston 6-3. We will see what the next two nights hold as the Red Sox lead in the wild card race has completely evaporated and now they are tied with Tampa. Here are some other notes from the game: * Josh Beckett has started four times this year against the Orioles with no quality starts. He is 20-for-24 picking up quality starts in the rest of his games in 2011. He entered the game tied for second lowest batting average against in the majors and with the American League's third-best ERA. But the Orioles have scored 12 runs on 14 hits with four homers over 13 1/3 against him in his past two starts. His 7.03 ERA this year versus the Orioles is his highest against any AL opponent. * The Orioles have turned into a scoring machine. They have plated six or more runs in eight of their last nine games and in 11 of the past 13. They have scored 18 runs the last three games, 55 in the last nine and 77 runs in the past 13 games. * Jacoby Ellsbury went 2-for-4 with a double last night and now has a remarkable 34-game hitting streak against the Orioles since April 17, 2009. It is the longest hitting streak ever against the Orioles by 11 games and longest by a Sox batter against one opponent in club history. During the streak, he is batting .430 (65-for-151) with seven homers and 22 RBIs. * The Orioles have now won five of their last seven games against Boston and trail 7-9 in the season series. They are 16-16 in the past 32 games against Boston.
