Chris and Jill Davis to host second annual "Crush's Homers for Hearts" benefiting University of Maryland Children's Hospital

The Orioles today announced that Chris and Jill Davis will host the second annual "Crush's Homers for Hearts," a charity Home Run Derby event at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, on Monday, May 14, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. ET. Proceeds from the event will again benefit the Pediatric Heart Program of the University of Maryland Children's Hospital (UMCH) at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Participants will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in a Home Run Derby challenge in foursomes on the field at Oriole Park. Along with taking part in the Home Run Derby, participants will also have the opportunity to warm up on the field, enjoy complimentary food and beverages, and take pictures with Chris and Jill Davis.

Additionally, the Davis family will host patients from UMCH for a longest ball T-ball challenge during which the children will have the opportunity to hit off a tee with help from Davis to see who can hit the longest ball. The children will enjoy several family-friendly entertainment options including a moon bounce, face painters, balloon twisters, and an appearance by the Oriole Bird.

Fans may also purchase individual tickets to attend the event, which includes a ticket to watch the exclusive Home Run Derby in the lower level of Oriole Park, an Orioles gift, and entry to the pre-derby reception with complimentary food and beverages.

"We are excited to be partnering with Chris and Jill Davis and the Orioles again this year to support our pediatric heart program," said Mohan Suntha, MD, MBA, President and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical Center, home of the University of Maryland Children's Hospital. "This event presents an important opportunity to continue advancing research and care for our smallest and most vulnerable patients in the most complex area of pediatric heart disease."

The first annual "Crush's Homers for Hearts" event, hosted in July of last season, raised nearly $100,000 to benefit the Pediatric Heart Program of the University of Maryland's Children's Hospital at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

In conjunction with last year's event, Chris Davis pledged a personal donation of $1,000 for each of his home runs during the 2017 season, which totaled $26,000, and has continued the pledge for the 2018 season.

"Jill and I are excited to once against host Crush's Homers for Hearts to benefit the University of Maryland Children's Hospital," said Davis. "We were thrilled with the participation and money raised during the inaugural event last year, and look forward to another successful event to benefit the children within the Pediatric Heart Program."

Chris and Jill Davis serve as ambassadors for the University of Maryland Children's Hospital at the University of Maryland Medical Center, helping to raise awareness for childhood illnesses and UMCH's role as a leader in patient care, pediatric disease research, and teaching future generations of health care providers. In support of the partnership, which was announced in late 2016, the Davis family has also visited pediatric cancer patients at UMCH, and donated toys, promotional items, and supplies to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
