Chris Davis talks about his wrist injury (plus Hardy and Johnson quotes)

Chris Davis said his left wrist got bent back a bit, but he is relieved he suffered just a sprain when Jacoby Ellsbury hit his glove hand running to first base in the fourth inning. Davis came out of the game, but X-rays were negative. "You know, right there, that is a tough play with a guy who runs well," Davis said. "Tough play for Clev (catcher Steve Clevenger). Thought I had a chance to maybe sneak in there, but he hit my wrist and bent it back pretty good. But they said no fracture, no break, just a sprain, so thankful it's just a sprain." Davis said he is not concerned about the injury. "No, I don't think it is anything that is long term," he said. "It will be sore for a few days. But it helps going into the offseason. I'm glad it is nothing serious and that we won the game." It was am emotional day at times for Davis. He was presented with the Most Valuable Oriole award before the game and got a few standing ovations. "It was kind of a whirlwind of emotions," he said. "It was really cool to run out there on the field. Being voted Most Valuable Oriole was a huge honor. The way the fans have treated me, really not just today, but all year has been awesome. Knowing that this is over is kind of sad, but we've definitely had a productive year and have something to build on." J.J. Hardy gave some praise to the fans for a sellout today. "Anytime the fans come out, we love it," he said. "The fact they came out and supported us the last game of the season knowing we didn't have a chance to make the playoffs is pretty exciting for us." What are the emotions like for the players at the end of the season? "There are a lot," Hardy said. "You're going to miss a lot of these guys. We're all friends and we've been together for eight months straight. At the same time, we've put in a lot of hard work and we're ready to kind of relax for a little bit. Jim Johnson recorded his AL-leading 50th save, joining Eric Gagne as the only pitchers with back-to-back years of 50 or more saves. But the season didn't always go well for him or the team and he noted that during his postgame interview. "It was a frustrating season, difficult and maybe disappointing for a lot of us, but that's because we have expectations where we should be," he said. "Obviously the year wasn't the way I wanted it to go, but I'll reflect on it later."
