Feldman turns in shortest outing as Oriole (updated)

Scott Feldman allowed the leadoff batter to reach in four of the first five innings tonight. He issued four walks. He let 11 of the 25 batters he faced reach base. Quite the recipe for disaster. Feldman was charged with five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, his shortest outing in six starts with the Orioles and tied for his second-shortest this season. He went 4 2/3 in his first outing with the Cubs this season, and 4 1/3 in his next game. Michael Morse singled with two outs in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie, and manager Buck Showalter came to the mound after Justin Smoak singled. T.J. McFarland served up a three-run homer to Michael Saunders, increasing Seattle's lead to 6-2 and tagging Feldman with two more earned runs. The Orioles have allowed two or more home runs in 41 games this season, tied with the Blue Jays for the most in the majors. The O's also lead the bigs with 148 homers surrendered this year. The Orioles have given up six homers in this series and 11 over their last four games. Feldman threw 95 pitches tonight, only 51 for strikes. He was in constant trouble. Feldman has allowed 23 earned runs in 36 1/3 innings with the Orioles for a 5.70 ERA. McFarland has let 13 of 21 inherited runners score this season. Down on the farm, left-hander Zach Britton surrendered six hits in 1 1/3 innings for Triple-A Norfolk, but no runs. That's a neat trick. A scoring change has now left him with five hits allowed over three scoreless innings. Zelous Wheeler was charged with an error. Update: Mariners starter Erasmo Ramirez has retired nine batters in a row. He's allowed only two hits - home runs by Matt Wieters and Manny Machado. The offense comes and the offense goes. Steve Johnson walked two batters and struck out two in a scoreless seventh inning, his first appearance with the Orioles since June 5. Tonight's attendance: 35,231
