Game update and more notes (Wieters and Machado homer)

Scott Feldman allowed only his third home run tonight in six starts with the Orioles, as Justin Smoak lifted a 75 mph curveball onto the flag court in right field in the top of the second inning to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Feldman allowed a single and walked a batter in the first before retiring the next three Mariners, striking out Raul Ibanez to close the inning. And yes, Ibanez is still booed here by fans who haven't forgotten the damage he did for the Yankees in last year's American League Division Series. Orioles pitchers have allowed 147 home runs, most in the majors. The Blue Jays were next with 137. Nate McLouth struck out leading off the bottom of the first. He leads the majors with eight multi-hit games since the All-Star break. McLouth, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis have started 78 games together in the outfield this season, leading the next-closest trio - the White Sox's Dayan Vicideo, Alejandro De Aza and Alex Rios - by nine games. Chris Davis is the first player in history to have at least 30 doubles and 40 home runs through August 2. He reached those milestones 16 days earlier than Ken Griffey Jr. in 1997. Matt Wieters is hitless in his last seven games and 25 at-bats, both career highs. Hardy and Manny Machado started 150 consecutive games on the left side of the infield since Aug. 21, 2012. According to STATS, since 1946, the only longer streaks are 221 by Puddin' Head Jones/Granny Hamner (Phillies, 8/16/1949-5/08/1951), 179 by Johnny Pesky/Vern Stephens (Red Sox, 7/25/1948-8/14/1949) and 165 by Bobby Adams/Roy McMillan (Reds, 9/30/1951-5/01/1953. Before tonight, the Orioles had the league-leaders in home runs (Davis with 40), RBIs (Davis with 101), runs (Davis with 78), hits (Machado with 138), total bases (Davis with 271), doubles (Machado with 39), slugging percentage (Davis at .684), extra-base hits (Davis with 70), at-bats (Machado with 468), games (Machado, Hardy and Adam Jones with 110), and daytime batting average (Jones at .387). They also led the majors in each category except runs. (Matt Carpenter had 79.) Joey Votto also appeared in 110 games. Right-hander Edinson Volquez (8-8, 5.56 ERA) and left-hander LH Eric Stults (8-10, 3.55 ERA) are listed as the Padres starters for the two-game series that begins Tuesday in San Diego. The Orioles haven't announced their starters. Update: So much for Wieters being hitless in his last seven games and 25 at-bats. He homered with two outs in the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Wieters' last homer came on July 24 in Kansas City. He has 15 this season. Update II: The Mariners loaded the bases with one out in the fourth, and Michael Morse scored on a 7-5 putout to break a 1-1 tie. McLouth raised his glove as if ready to catch Brad Miller's shallow fly ball, causing Justin Smoak to hold up. McLouth registered the Orioles' 18th outfield assist this season. The Mariners didn't lead for long. Machado homered on Erasmo Ramirez's second pitch in the bottom of the fourth, an 84 mph slider. Machado has 10 home runs and 52 RBIs this season.
