Five years ago today, Ubaldo Jimenez pitched a no-hitter, plus Adam Jones notes

It was five years ago today.

A flame-throwing 26-year-old right-hander, Ubaldo Jimenez, who pitches tonight for the Orioles at Boston, threw a no-hitter for the Colorado Rockies against the Atlanta Braves.

Jimenez threw 128 pitches, his fastball touched 98 mph and he walked six batters. He struggled with command pitching out of the windup so much that he switched to the stretch position to end the game.

But he got Martin Prado, Chipper Jones and Brian McCann to end the game. "That was domination," Jones said.

Jimenez went 19-8 with an ERA of 2.88 during that 2010 season for the Rockies. He started on the mound for the National League in the All-Star Game and he finished third after the season in voting for the Cy Young Award.

Well, it had to happen right? No one can stay that hot. Jones has just one hit each of the last two games, going 2-for-7 after he produced 10 hits in the four games before that.
