Welcome back to Nats Park for the Nationals one-game homestand against the Chicago Cubs. This game is the rescheduled game from Sunday's rainout.
The Nats are enjoying their second longest win streak of the season, having won five in a row following a series sweep of the Phillies and a 5-1 win last night. They won six in a row twice this season: May 25-30 and April 29-May 4. After the game tonight, the club boards a charter and heads for an important three-game set against the red-hot and first-place Atlanta Braves.
Outfielder Bryce Harper smacked a two-run shot, Ryan Zimmerman homered and Juan Soto added a solo homer that landed in the upper deck at Citizens Bank Park as the Nats feasted on the Phillies pitching staff again.
Harper is hitting .304 with eight walks, two homers and five RBIs in his last seven games. Soto is hitting .345 in his last week, with three homers and eight RBIs. Zimmerman batting .273 with a homer and eight RBIs in that span.
Right-hander Joe Ross (0-0) looking to make his first full start after his start September 7 was cut short after five outs and 24 pitches due to rain. Left-hander Mike Montgomery (4-5, 3.85 ERA) gets the nod for the Cubs.
