Guerrero could be headed to disabled list (with lineup and notes)

X-rays taken on Vladimir Guerrero's right hand revealed a small crack in a bone, and he's out of the lineup again tonight. Guerrero didn't play last night, and he couldn't swing a bat earlier today without experiencing pain in the hand. Guerrero was hit by a pitch from Red Sox rookie Kyle Weiland during Sunday's game at Fenway Park. The three-day All-Star break didn't improve the condition of his hand or his availability. The Orioles could attempt to give Guerrero a few more days or choose to place him on the disabled list. They'll consult with team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens later today. Nolan Reimold will serve as the designated hitter tonight. Guerrero is batting .279 with seven homers, 31 RBIs and a .700 OPS in 83 games this season. Manager Buck Showalter indicated that Luke Scott could serve as the designated hitter if Guerrero goes on the disabled list. Scott received a cortisone injection in his right shoulder today, and Showalter hasn't eliminated the possibility of the veteran coming off the disabled list when eligible on Tuesday. Scott would have to get some at-bats with a minor league affiliate before being activated. For the Orioles: J.J. Hardy SS Nick Markakis RF Adam Jones CF Matt Wieters C Derrek Lee 1B Mark Reynolds 3B Nolan Reimold DH Felix Pie LF Robert Andino 2B Jake Arrieta RHP Also, Showalter still hasn't named a starter for Monday night. Alfredo Simon will start tomorrow night, and Mitch Atkins will start Sunday afternoon. Showalter told reporters that he'll probably talk to Lee about running through third base coach Willie Randolph's stop sign last night. Showalter doesn't seem particularly upset about it, but he thinks Lee would have been an easy out with a quicker relay throw. He disputed a reporter's assertion that Lee was "right" because the first baseman scored on the play.
