Machado's first homer since May 5, Roberts' first game since April 4 (O's lead 3-1)

Manny Machado rounded the bases in the first inning tonight, waved to some fans after crossing home plate and disappeared into the Orioles' dugout. Machado hit his first home run since May 5, and it gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead over the Yankees in the bottom of the first inning at Camden Yards. This place was loud before the game started. Machado crushed an 83 mph slider and cranked up the volume. Machado is 4-for-13 with two homers against Yankees right-hander Hiroki Kuroda. His last homer came off the Angels' Jerome Williams in Anaheim. What's next, an Adam Jones walk? Machado is batting .318 with 37 doubles, six homers, 42 RBIs, 113 hits and 33 multi-hit games. And he's still not old enough to legally order a brew. Six more days. Machado managed to top it. Update: It got really loud here again when Chris Davis homered to left field leading off the bottom of the second inning to break a 1-1 tie. Davis took a 90 mph sinker to the opposite field, giving him 31 home runs to break Brady Anderson's franchise record for the most before the All-Star break. Davis has nine homers in his last 14 games, and 28 RBIs in his last 18. The Yankees had tied the game in the top of the second on a bases-loaded walk to Brett Gardner. Chris Tillman has thrown 43 pitches in two innings. Update II: The Orioles lead the majors with 115 home runs, including three tonight. Roberts struck out on a 2-2 splitter in the third inning after receiving a standing ovation, and Nate McLouth followed with a homer to right field to increase the Orioles' lead to 3-1. Machado followed with his 38th double, which also gave him 34 multi-hit games. The Orioles seem to enjoy being on national TV. Machado has 13 career home runs, the most ever by an Oriole under 21. Boog Powell had 12 in 1961-1962.
