BOWIE - Bud Norris is wearing the home whites today with his last name stitched across the back of his jersey, but he's pitching in a minor league ballpark with a different number. Oh yes, there's also the 11:05 a.m. starting time. The Orioles did it once this season on Patriots' Day at Fenway Park, but it's still unusual. Norris has tossed two scoreless innings at Double-A Bowie, allowing an infield hit, walking two and striking out three. The Orioles want his pitch count around 100. The Richmond Flying Squirrels may have something to say about it. The Orioles optioned Norris on Thursday to give him more work during the All-Star break following his stint on the disabled list with a strained groin muscle. He will be recalled and start the first game in Anaheim on July 21. Norris, wearing No. 31 instead of 25, issued a walk in the first before inducing a ground ball that resulted in a 6-4-3 double play. He gave up an infield hit to open the second and issued a walk with one out, but struck out the side. Norris has thrown 38 pitches, 19 for strikes, in his first two innings. Orioles third base coach Bobby Dickerson is attending the game at Prince George's Stadium, along with scout Dean Albany and instructor B.J. Surhoff. Manager Buck Showalter is expected here, as well. He wants to take a look at shortstop-turned-reliever Mychal Givens, who's scheduled to follow Norris to the mound. Update: Norris allowed a run in the fourth on Jarrett Parker's leadoff triple and Eliezer Zambrano's two-out single. Norris has thrown 84 pitches, in four innings, 51 for strikes. Jason Gurka is warming in the bullpen as Norris returns for the fifth. Norris has allowed one run and three hits, with four walks and seven strikeouts. He needed 12 pitches to strike out Ryan Lollis and end the fourth. Update II: Norris was removed with one out in the fifth after Mario Lisson's two-run double that gave Richmond a 3-0 lead. Norris threw 98 pitches, 60 for strikes. He's charged with three runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings, with five walks, seven strikeouts and a hit batter. Jason Gurka replaced him and stranded Lisson at second base.
