Orioles' bullpen moving up the rankings (and other notes)

The Orioles trail the Blue Jays in the all-time series 266-305. They lead the series 152-137 at home, but are 114-168 in Toronto.

Since April 29, the Orioles' bullpen leads the majors with a 1.99 ERA over 136 innings and ranks third by holding opponents to a .207 average.

Overall this season, Orioles relievers rank fifth in the majors and third in the American League with a 2.80 ERA - 63 earned runs in 202 1/3 innings - and fifth in the majors by holding opponents to a .220 average. The bullpen also ranks fifth in the majors with a strikeout/walk ratio of 2.92 (207 strikeouts, 71 walks).

Britton has registered a 1.63 ERA by allowing five earned runs in 27 2/3 innings, with 35 strikeouts, and has held opponents to a .214 average. He's tossed 13 2/3 scoreless innings over his last 13 outings, allowing eight hits, walking two and striking out 16.

Edwin Encarnacion is 4-for-11 with a double lifetime against Britton, if that matchup surfaces tonight.

Tommy Hunter has posted a 1.82 ERA in his last 21 outings since April 19, allowing five earned runs over 24 2/3 innings.

Encarnacion is 10-for-23 with a double and three home runs against Hunter.

Darren O'Day has surrendered two earned runs in 23 innings over his last 24 appearances since April 13. His 1.04 ERA ranks sixth among AL relievers.

Jose Bautista is 5-for-16 with four home runs, five strikeouts and a few choice words against O'Day. Encarnacion is 1-for-12 with a double, and Russell Martin is 1-for-11.

Chaz Roe has stranded all nine inherited runners.

Adam Jones is batting .333 (16-for-48) in his last 12 games, with two doubles, two triples, four home runs and seven RBIs. His .301 average this season ranks 10th in the American League.

J.J. Hardy's 11-game hitting streak is tied for the third-longest active streak in the majors. The Cubs' Kris Bryant has hit safely in 14 consecutive games.

The Orioles are 7-1 in games Matt Wieters has started since he came off the disabled list. He's 11-for-32 (.344) with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and eight RBIs.

Manager Buck Showalter (1,293) is two wins shy of tying Cap Anson for 32nd place on the all-time list.

The Orioles are 22-13 at home and 12-19 on the road. They're 12-11 in the first game of the series.
