Orioles to celebrate 20th anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr.'s record-breaking 2,131st consecutive game streak

The Orioles will open a three-game homestand on Monday, August 31, at 7:05 p.m. ET against the Tampa Bay Rays. The homestand will feature many special events including KidsPeace Night, an Orioles Wives Habitat for Humanity build, and a night to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr.'s record-breaking 2,131st consecutive game

On Tuesday, September 1, prior to the 7:05 p.m. game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Orioles will celebrate the iconic moment when Ripken played his 2,131st consecutive game, passing New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig, on September 6, 1995. Ripken will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of a variety of commemorative events planned at Oriole Park to honor the anniversary. Prior to the game, from approximately 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., the Orioles will show the video 2131: Cal's Moment in Time, originally released in 1995, on the main centerfield video board.

As part of the 2131 celebration, fans are encouraged to submit their photos from the historic record-breaking game, record-tying game, other Streak Week games or activities, or any photos taken with Ripken on Twitter or Instagram using #My2131. Maryland residents can also participate in an online charity auction for the 2130 and 2131 numbered Orioles-themed Maryland license plates on www.orioles.com/2131 from August 27 until the evening of September 6. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Orioles Charitable Foundation.
