Post-game Notes: Sox make it two in a row over O's

For the second game in a row, the Orioles out-hit the White Sox, but lost the game. They entered this series with a record of 30-6 on the year when they had more hits than their opponent. That mark is now 30-8. The O's fall to 11-10 in one-run games and are now 21-19 in games decided by two runs or less. The error on first baseman Ty Wigginton in the last of the 5th led to four runs scoring, two were unearned. Brad Bergesen allowed six straight hits after the error. In six innings, Bergesen allowed four runs (two earned) on ten hits, throwing 91 pitches. He is now 6-4, 3.51. The ten hits Bergesen allowed was the most he has given up since Minnesota got 11 hits off him on May 7th. Over his last ten starts, Bergesen is 5-2, 2.41. Bergesen does not have a road win this year. In seven starts away from Camden Yards, he is 0-3, 4.57. The O's are 1-6 in those seven starts, while they are 8-2 when Bergesen starts at home. Mark Buehrle picked up his 10th win of the season, that is one off the AL lead co-held by Boston's Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield. Buehrle allowed just one run over 7 1/3, improving to 10-3, 3.52. In his last 20 home starts, he is now 14-1, 2.47. He improved to 5-2 in his career vs. Baltimore. This was his 12th quality start of the year and his 182nd since 2001, the most in the Majors in that time. Brian Roberts is 5 for 9 in this series. He is now 8 for 17 during a four-game batting streak with two doubles and 3 RBI. Nolan Reimold entered this series in a 4 for 36 slump, but is 4 for 8 vs. the Sox. He went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI today, it's his 12th multi-hit game and his 7th multi-RBI contest. Nick Markakis went 2 for 5 with a double and is 4 for 10 in the series. During his current five-game batting streak, Markakis is 8 for 23 with four doubles and 3 RBI. Ty Wigginton had two hits and is batting .359 (23 for 64) over his previous 20 games. Matt Wieters went hitless and is 0 for 9 this weekend. Wieters has just two hits over his last 23 at bats. The O's fall to 4-3 over the last seven games and 15-14 over the last 29 contests. They are 40-50 on the season, 14-29 on the road, 5-8 in July, 11-10 in one-run games and 8-7 vs. the AL Central. Jim Thome went 2 for 3 with a double but did not have an RBI. He now has 14 RBI over his last four games. The Sox are 3-2 this year vs. the O's and are 44-29 vs. Baltimore since 2000. The Sox, who moved to within 1 ½ games of first-place Detroit in the Central, are 19-9 over their last 28 games.
