Quick hits from the clubhouse

It didn't take long for the Orioles to make the first adjustment to their rotation.

tillman-pitching-black-alcs.jpgChris Tillman will start Friday night against the Rays on three days' rest after working only two innings on opening day. Mike Wright will be pushed back to Saturday night.

The Rays are starting Chris Archer, Drew Smyly and Jake Odorizzi. Manager Buck Showalter is withholding the identity of his No. 5 starter until making sure the weather doesn't impact any games this week.

Brian Matusz will pitch one inning on Thursday and Friday at Double-A Bowie, and the Orioles remain hopeful that he'll come off the disabled list on Sunday.

Kevin Gausman threw 30 pitches today in a two-inning simulated game in Sarasota. He's on a plane headed to Baltimore, where he'll work out before making Saturday's start at Bowie.

Gausman is slated to go three or four innings with the Baysox. He's also scheduled to pitch April 14 at Single-A Frederick, and the Orioles plan on activating him April 19.

Hunter Harvey, sidelined with a mild groin strain, threw 40 pitches today in Sarasota and is scheduled to pitch Saturday in a simulated game. The Orioles will assign him to Frederick once he's ready to join the rotation.

Triple-A Norfolk still needs another starter for its rotation beyond Odrisamer Despaigne, Nick Additon, Todd Redmond and Terry Doyle. The Orioles may go outside the organization. They worked out a pitcher earlier today at Camden Yards.
