Reimold homers, Jimenez talks about his outing (O's lose 6-5)

Ubaldo Jimenez retired all six Phillies he faced in his debut on Friday, but they reached him for four runs and four hits over two innings this afternoon. "It was a tough day," he said. "The first time I got to pitch from the stretch in a game and it got the best of me. I couldn't find a good release when I got from the stretch. And that was after the leadoff guy (Revere) got on base right away, so it was a little bit tough to get in a good rhythm." Asked if he took anything positive out of his start, Jimenez replied, "I raised my pitch count. I threw 50 pitches and then I went to the bullpen and threw like 15 more. "It doesn't matter where you are, in spring training or wherever. You never want to give up runs. But this is spring training and that's where it's going to stay. There's nothing you can do about it. I got my work in. You're never happy to give up runs, but you're here to get your work done and get your arm ready for the regular season." All four runs off Jimenez scored with two outs. "I was probably a pitch away from closing the inning, especially in the first inning with the bases loaded," he said. "I got two outs. But it happened. I left a pitch high and he (Domonic Brown) got a good swing on it." Jimenez is getting familiar with the Phillies this spring. They certainly got more comfortable with him today. "You take it like it's a spring training game, but obviously, every time you have to face a team over and over, it's not fun," he said. Update: Steve Johnson stranded two runners in the top of the seventh, and the Orioles continue to trail 6-3. Johnson gave up a hit and walked a batter. He produced a ground ball with a 67 mph curveball. Johnson (St. Paul's) was throwing to Steve Clevenger (Mount St. Joseph). Update II: Johnson retired the Phillies in order in the eighth.
