Sox bomb O's to sweep series

The Boston Red Sox scored 14 runs on 16 hits today. And, that was just in the first four innings. The Sox scored a season-high 18 runs while O's pitching allowed a season-high 23 hits in Boston's 18-10 win over the Orioles on Sunday afternoon. Boston sweeps the series and it's the first time all year the Orioles have been swept three strait at home. Boston scored four in the 1st, two in the 2nd, one in the 3rd and seven in the 4th in leading 14-6 after four frames.

Sox newcomer Victor Martinez went 5 for 6 with a double and four RBI. J.D Drew and Mike Lowell added 3 RBI each while Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia each scored four times. The O's scored six runs in the last of the third to cut Boston's lead to 7-6. But when the Red Sox scored seven in the 4th the lead was back to eight runs. For the Birds, Adam Jones had three hits, including a homer and three RBI. Nick Markakis had a double and 3 RBI. Losing pitcher Jason Berken gave up six runs over 1 1/3 innings to fall to 1-9, 6.93. The O's ended this homestand at 2-5 with three straight losses. They are just 4-12 since the All-Star break. The Orioles fall to 2-11 this season vs. Boston and have lost 18 of their last 21 vs. the Red Sox. Bost......18-23-0 Balt.......10-15-1
