Stewart selected to AFL Fall Stars Game

Outfielder DJ Stewart, the 25th overall pick in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida State University, has been chosen to play in the Arizona Fall League's 11th annual "Fall Stars Game" Saturday in Surprise, Ariz.

Stewart, 22, is 10-for-45 with three doubles, a triple, five RBIs and five runs scored in 12 games. He has 11 walks, 11 strikeouts and is 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.

Director of player development Brian Graham made the decision to promote Stewart to the Keys despite a .230/.366/.352 slash line in 62 games and 262 plate appearances at low Single-A Delmarva, and it certainly paid off.

Stewart, playing for the Peoria Javelinas, is the only Orioles minor leaguer chosen to the Fall Stars Game.

Stefan Crichton has allowed only an unearned run and seven hits in seven innings, with no walks and six strikeouts. He's registered one save for the Javelinas.

Crichton, a 23rd-round pick in 2013 out of Texas Christian University, was 2-6 with a 3.73 ERA and one save in 48 games (four starts) with Double-A Bowie.

Left-hander Tanner Scott is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in four starts with Peoria. He's allowed six runs and 11 hits in 8 2/3 innings, with three walks, eight strikeouts and one hit batter.

Pitching coach Justin Lord and coach Keith Bodie are included on the West Division staff for the Fall Stars Game, which airs on MLB Network.
