Updates on Clevenger, Wada and Hoes

Catcher Steve Clevenger, the Baltimore native acquired from the Cubs with Scott Feldman for pitchers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop, played in his first game today since recovering from a strained oblique. Clevenger was behind the plate for the Gulf Coast League Orioles and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before being replaced. He had been rehabbing at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota. Clevenger was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk, but didn't report because of the injury. Chris Snyder and Luis Exposito have been doing the catching for the Tides. Tsuyoshi Wada threw 101 pitches in only 4 2/3 innings today at Norfolk. He allowed two runs and four hits, walked five, struck out four and surrendered a home run. Wada had turned in three quality starts in his last four outings - though he allowed seven runs and 13 hits in five innings in a July 11 start at Gwinnett. Wada actually lowered his ERA today to 5.54. Outfielder LJ Hoes has drawn three more walks today, giving him 58 this season. He's struck out 53 times. Nice ratio. Hoes is batting .308 in 98 games.
