Werth said Boston series "a possibility" for return from shoulder surgery

Left fielder Jayson Werth went 1-for-4 with a home run, two walks and one strikeout over the course of a doubleheader for the high Single-A Potomac Nationals as he continues his rehab from right AC joint surgery in his shoulder.

The strikeout was on a change up and the home run came on a hanging curveball off of Lynchburg.

"I feel pretty good," Werth said. "It's been feeling pretty good. So it's coming along and continues to progress. We'll see what everybody wants to do. Hopefully, soon rather than later."

Does it look like Werth will rejoin the Nationals for their series against the Red Sox in Boston on Monday afternoon?

"It's a possibility," Werth said. "We'll see what they want to do. I'm short on at-bats, but I feel pretty good. If that's what they want to do, I'm ready. If they want me to get more at-bats, then I'll get more at-bats."

Werth talked about adjusting to minor league baseball and why Potomac is a good place for him to get at-bats to rehab the shoulder.

"This is great. This is a nice place to play," Werth said. "It's close to D.C., so you get the hometown fans. They've been really supportive and they've come out and supported the team and myself. It's not ideal to come down to the minor leagues because, obviously, if you are down here, you are injured. It's not where you want to be, but at same time, if you got be somewhere this is not a bad place to be."
