For the seventh time in the history of the Baltimore Orioles, they were no-hit. Seattle right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma pitched the no-hitter as the Mariners beat the Orioles 3-0 this afternoon at Safeco Field.

Iwakuma needed 116 pitches to the get the win to improve to 4-2 with an ERA of 3.86 in 11 starts this year. The 34-year-old right-hander from Tokyo, Japan walked three and fanned seven in throwing his first complete-game of the year. The Orioles were no-hit for the first time since Sept. 1, 2007 when Boston's Clay Buchholz did that at Fenway Park. He walked Chris Davis with two outs, but got Jimmy Paredes to strike out to end that threat. Iwakuma walked Jonathan Schoop to start the O's eighth, but got the next two batters out, getting Caleb Joseph to bounce into an inning-ending double play.

In the ninth, Iwakuma retired David Lough on an excellent over the shoulder catch in foul territory by third baseman Kyle Seager for the first out. He then got Machado to ground out to third. He ended the no-hitter by getting Gerardo Parra to fly out to center on the first pitch.

Seattle took a 2-0 lead in the third. Ketel Marte walked with one-out against Kevin Gausman and scored on a Franklin Gutierrez RBI double. Robinson Cano followed with an RBI single to left for a 2-0 edge. Lough got very little on the throw home from short left field as Gutierrez scored.

An inning later, Seattle made it 3-0. Austin Jackson doubled to lead off the inning and then scored on a two-out double by Jesus Sucre. The Mariners had five doubles in the first four innings today.

Gausman settled down after that. He gave up six hits and three runs over seven innings. Gausman, who threw 113 pitches, is now 2-4 with an ERA of 4.56.

The Orioles ended their road trip losing two of the three series and going 4-5 on the trip. They are 25-36 on the road for the season and 57-56 overall. Now the Orioles return home and begin a 10-game homestand on Friday night at Camden Yards against the Oakland A's.
